Spotlight Donor

Our donors know that giving to the Stone Center is a decision that will affect generations to come. Through a variety of gift vehicles, they are making a real impact on real people. Our Spotlight Donors are people who make a difference through annual giving, advocacy and engagement in our board, programs and initiatives. Each semester we will spotlight an individual who has shown tremendous support for the Stone Center.

Meet Spotlight Donor: Joy Paige ’85

In March of 2009, Joy Paige made a career move that few people saw coming. After 20 years in the banking industry, Paige stepped down from her position with Wachovia as senior vice president of community affairs and assumed the role of vice president of institutional advancement at Johnson C. Smith University. For those who know Paige, this new role was a natural transition for her.

She has long supported Carolina through her work with theJoy Paige Board of Visitors, Black Alumni Reunion and the Advisory Board of the Stone Center. Paige played a key role in the beginning stages of the Center’s plans to build a free-standing facility and continued to commit her time and resources to make sure the Stone Center building was completed successfully. After the building’s completion in 2004, Paige began to commit her resources to the Stone Center’s arts fund, a fund that supports the Center’s exhibits, artists and the maintenance of its Robert and Sallie Brown Gallery and Museum. An avid Tar Heels fan, Paige continues to show her support to Carolina through her service with our Center, the campus community and the surrounding communities through her civic engagments with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Junior League of Raleigh.

The Sonja Haynes Stone Center salutes Joy Paige for her dedication and service!
